Early Rugby Days
Santiago Mesón began his rugby journey at the Tucumán Rugby Club. He joined the club in 1976 and started playing for their top team in 1985. He played for Tucumán Rugby Club until 1993.
Moving to a New Club
In 1993, Santiago moved to another famous club, S.I.C.. He played there until 1999, when he finished his playing career. During his time at S.I.C., he helped his team win important championships.
Club Achievements
- In 1994, Santiago Mesón won the Nacional de Clubes with S.I.C. This is a big national club competition in Argentina.
- He also won the URBA Championship twice, in 1994 and again in 1997. The URBA Championship is a major rugby tournament for clubs in the Buenos Aires area.
Playing for Argentina
Santiago Mesón also played for the Argentine national team, often called Los Pumas. He represented his country in 34 matches between 1987 and 1997.
Scoring for Los Pumas
During his time with Los Pumas, Santiago was a very good scorer. He scored a total of 365 points for Argentina. This made him one of the top scorers for the national team during his career.
Rugby World Cup Appearances
Santiago Mesón was chosen to play in two Rugby World Cup tournaments:
- He was part of the squad for the 1991 Rugby World Cup. He played in one game during this tournament.
- He was also selected for the 1995 Rugby World Cup. However, he did not get to play in any matches during that competition.
