Santo Domingo is a town and a municipality in Colombia. It is located in the Antioquia region of the country. This area is like a state or province.

The town is part of the Northeastern Antioquia subregion. It sits high up, about 1,975 meters (6,480 feet) above sea level. This means it's quite elevated, like being on a tall mountain.

Santo Domingo was started in 1778 by a person named Don Juan Gregorio Duque. A famous writer, Tomás Carrasquilla, was born here in 1858.
