Sara Anzanello (born July 30, 1980 – died October 25, 2018) was an amazing Italian volleyball player. She was known for her role as a middle hitter-blocker.

Who Was Sara Anzanello?

Sara Anzanello was born in San Donà di Piave, a town in the province of Venice, Italy. She started playing volleyball at a young age.

Her Early Career

Sara joined the Italian national team in 1998. She was only 17 years old when she made her debut. She played in 203 games for her country. This shows how important she was to the team!

Throughout her career, Sara played for several different volleyball clubs. She mostly played for Italian teams.

One of her biggest wins was a gold medal at the 2002 World Championship in Germany. This was a huge moment for Italian volleyball!

She also won two gold medals at the FIVB World Cup. These wins happened in Japan in both 2007 and 2011.

Sara also helped her team win several silver and bronze medals. These were at the FIVB World Grand Prix events between 2004 and 2007.

Sadly, in 2017, she was diagnosed with leukemia, a serious illness. Sara passed away in October 2018, at the age of 38. She is remembered as a brave and talented athlete.
