Sara Carbonero Arévalo (born February 3, 1984) is a famous Spanish sports journalist. She is known for being a TV presenter for the Spanish channel Telecinco. She started working there in the early 2000s.

In July 2015, she moved to Porto, a city in Portugal. This was because her former husband, the famous soccer player Iker Casillas, began playing for the Porto soccer team.

Career in Journalism

Sara Carbonero studied journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid. While she was still in her third year of college, she started working as an intern at Radio Marca, a popular sports radio station. An internship is a temporary job where students can get real-world experience. She did so well that she was hired just six months later.

In April 2009, she joined Telecinco, a major TV channel in Spain. There, she worked as an editor and a sports presenter, reporting on the latest news in sports.

In 2015, she started a clothing company called slow love with two of her friends. The company sells clothes, accessories, and beauty products online.

In July 2016, she also began hosting a fashion TV show on Telecinco called "Quiero Ser," which means "I Want to Be."

Reporting at the 2010 World Cup

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Sara Carbonero was reporting on a match between Spain and Switzerland. Some newspapers in England suggested that she might have distracted the Spanish goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, because she was standing near the field. Spain lost that game, which was a big surprise.

However, major Spanish newspapers like El Mundo and Marca said these claims were not true. The story caused a lot of discussion, and Carbonero became one of the most talked-about journalists at the World Cup.

After the World Cup, she also worked with Mediaset Premium, an Italian TV company. She reported on Spanish soccer, especially on the famous coach José Mourinho who was at Real Madrid at the time.

Personal Life

From 2009 to 2021, Sara Carbonero was in a relationship with Iker Casillas, the well-known goalkeeper for the Spanish national team and Real Madrid.

The couple has two sons. Their first son, Martín, was born in January 2014. Their second son, Lucas, was born on June 2, 2016. Sara and Iker were married on March 20, 2016. On March 12, 2021, they announced that they had decided to separate.

In May 2019, Carbonero shared that she had surgery for a serious illness. She recovered successfully. In February 2021, she was in the hospital again, but she chose to keep her health matters private.
