About Sara Gill
Sara Gill is a Pakistani physician and an activist. An activist is someone who works hard to bring about change and help certain groups of people. Sara Gill is known for being the first transgender doctor in Pakistan. This means she was the first person who identifies as transgender to become a doctor in her country.
Her Journey to Become a Doctor
Sara Gill went to the Pakistan Air Force School when she was younger. After that, she studied at Jinnah Medical and Dental College in Karachi. She worked very hard and graduated in January 2021. When she finished her studies, she became the first transgender female doctor in Pakistan. This was a very big achievement for her and for the transgender community.
She was also chosen for a special program called the IVLP Fellowship Program by the US State Department. This program helps people from different countries learn and share ideas. Sara believes that transgender people were once highly respected in history. She says that things changed when the British came to her continent. Since then, her community has faced unfair treatment.
Working for Change
Sara Gill is not just a doctor; she is also a strong activist. She is the president of an organization called the Moorat Interactive Society. An NGO is a group that works for a cause, not for profit. She is also a member of another group called Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA). Both of these groups work to stop violence and unfair treatment against the transgender community.
Sara is a well-known voice for transgender rights. She has spoken at many events in Pakistan and other countries. She shares her experiences and works to make things better for transgender people. In 2024, she was a main speaker at Karachi's Hijra Festival. This festival celebrates the transgender community.
