Sara Rosina Gramática (born May 26, 1942) is a famous architect from Argentina. For over 40 years, she was part of a team of five architects. They started a company called GGMPU Arquitectos in Córdoba, Argentina. Today, she still works with her husband and son at MGM y Asociados.

Sara Gramática has designed many different types of buildings. These include homes and large public buildings. She has won many important awards for her work. These include the Konex Award for Visual Arts in 1992. She also won the Buenos Aires Biennial Award for her work on social housing. She has also been a leader, like serving as Vice President of the Society of Architects of Córdoba.

Sara Gramática was born on May 26, 1942, in Villa Dolores, Argentina. She studied architecture at the National University of Córdoba. She finished her studies and graduated in 1965.

Two years later, in 1967, she started working with other architects. These were Juan Carlos Guerrero, Jorge Morini, José Pisani, and Eduardo Urtubey. She had met all of them at university. Together, they started their own architecture company. They named it GGMPU, using the first letter of each of their last names.

They worked together at GGMPU until 1971. Then, they started another company called COPSA. In 1995, their work went back to being under the GGMPU name. Sara Gramática and Jorge Morini are married and have children together.

Working in Argentina and Spain

In 2002, Argentina faced money problems. Because of this, Sara Gramática and her partners (Morini, Pisani, and Urtubey) started a new company. They called it GMPU S.L. and opened it in Málaga, Spain. This company designed homes along the Mediterranean coast until 2011.

From 2006, Sara Gramática also started working on projects with her son, Lucio Morini. In 2013, both GGMPU and GMPU S.L. stopped operating. Their work was then taken over by a new company. This company is called MCM y Asociados (Morini, Gramática, Morini). Sara Gramática is still actively working there today.

Notable Buildings and Designs

GGMPU completed many important buildings in Argentina. One of them is the Casa en el Lago (House on the Lake) in Villa Carlos Paz (1995). They also designed several buildings in Córdoba. These include Nazareth III (1991) and the Palacio de Justicia II (Justice Palace II) (1998). They also worked on the expansion of the Museo de Bellas Artes Emilio Caraffa (Art Museum Emilio Caraffa) in 2008.

Working with her son, Lucio Morini, Sara Gramática helped design the Centro Civico (Civic Center) in Córdoba. This important building was finished in 2012.

Awards and Recognition

Sara Gramática has received many awards for her architectural work. Some of her most important awards include:

  • 1985: Premio Bienal Buenos Aires for being the best female architect in social housing. This means she was recognized for designing homes for many people.
  • 1992: Konex Visual Arts Award. This is a very important award in Argentina for arts and sciences.
  • 1998: Premio Bienal internacional de Arquitectura for her Palacio de Justicia de Córdoba. This award recognized her design for the Justice Palace.
  • 2000: Vitruvio a la Trayectoria, Buenos Aires. This award celebrates her long and successful career.
