Sara Shakeel is a modern artist who grew up in Pakistan and now lives in London. She is famous for using shiny glass crystals in her art. She creates both digital pictures and real-life objects covered in crystals. Her art often combines photos with these sparkling additions.

Artistic Journey

Sara Shakeel first learned how to use a computer program called Photoshop all by herself. She started making art to express her feelings.

She began sharing her art on Instagram, a social media app. Soon, she became very popular, gaining over one million followers! In 2019, Sara worked with a store in London called Browns. She created a small clothing collection and showed one of her big artworks, The Great Supper, in their shop.

Glitter Stretch Marks

One of Sara Shakeel's first famous art projects was called #glitterstretchmarks. She took pictures of stretch marks and added sparkling gold glitter, crystals, and even images of galaxies onto them.

By covering stretch marks with glitter and crystals, Sara wanted to show that these natural marks are beautiful. Her goal was to help people feel good about their bodies and feel strong. She turned something many people see as a flaw into amazing art. In 2019, she even worked with the shoe company Reebok. For their campaign about body image, she covered the muscles of athlete Jamie Green with shiny Swarovski crystals.

Working with Chance the Rapper

Sara Shakeel designed the cover art for Chance the Rapper's music album, The Big Day. For this special project, Sara made a real CD out of glass and a clear material called resin. Then, she covered it completely with crystals. This sparkling object was then photographed to become the album cover.

Chance the Rapper also asked Sara to create art for a special art show and shop. This event was called "The Big Store" and happened when his album was released. Each room in this show was inspired by parts of the rapper's life, like his childhood or his wedding day. Sara created much of the art for this show. She used thousands of Swarovski crystals to cover everyday items like tables, chairs, plates, microphone stands, and even toys!

The Great Supper

In 2019, Sara Shakeel created a large art piece called The Great Supper. It was shown at the NOW Gallery in London. She was inspired by a famous painting called The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. But she also thought about her own happy memories of eating around the dinner table with her family.

Sara mentioned the importance of an Urdu word, gupshup. This word means having friendly and important conversations together. Sara Shakeel won an award from the NOW Gallery in 2019 for this amazing artwork.
