Sarah Harlowe was born in London in 1765. She started acting in 1787 in a town called Colnbrook. The next year, she moved to Windsor. There, she met Francis Godolphin Waldron, who was also involved in theatre. They got married.
Her Life on Stage
Francis Waldron, Sarah's husband, had many jobs in theatre. He was a prompter at the Haymarket Theatre in London. A prompter helps actors remember their lines. He also managed theatres in Windsor and Richmond.
Through her husband's connections, Sarah got a job at Sadler's Wells Theatre. She became famous there as a singer and actress. She also performed in pantomimes, which are plays with music and no talking.
On November 4, 1790, she performed at Covent Garden theatre. She sang a popular song called Down in the country lived a lass. In 1792, she moved to the Haymarket Theatre. Later, she joined the Drury Lane theatre.
At Drury Lane, Sarah often played funny characters. These included smart maids, playful young women, and older ladies. She also performed at the English Opera House. In 1797, she acted in a musical play and a pantomime at the Royalty Theatre.
Sarah Harlowe was a talented comedy actress. She understood the stage very well. This made her very useful in any theatre. She was known for her neat figure and sometimes played male characters.

Sarah Harlowe passed away suddenly on January 2, 1852. She was 86 years old. She died of heart disease in Gravesend, Kent. Her death record showed her name as "Sarah Waldron, annuitant."
