Sargent & Greenleaf, Inc., often called S&G, is an American company. They make special locks for safes and strongboxes. These include locks that use numbers (combination locks) and locks that need keys. They also make very strong padlocks for military use.

A Look Back: The History of S&G
How It All Started
A man named James Sargent started this company in 1857. It was first called the James Sargent Lock Company. In 1864, he moved the company to Rochester, New York.
New Name, New Partner
The company's name changed to Sargent & Greenleaf. In 1865, Halbert S. Greenleaf joined as an equal partner. He used to be Mr. Sargent's boss.
Where S&G Is Today
In 1974, the company moved its main office to Nicholasville, Kentucky. It is still located there today. Sargent & Greenleaf is part of a bigger company called Stanley Security Solutions.
