Satoru Yamagishi (山岸 智, Yamagishi Satoru, born May 3, 1983) is a Japanese football player. He was a talented midfielder who played for several clubs and also represented his country on the Japan national team.

Satoru Yamagishi's Club Journey

Satoru Yamagishi started his football journey in his hometown of Chiba, Japan. He joined the youth team of JEF United Ichihara, which later became JEF United Chiba. He officially joined their main team in 2002.

Early Career at JEF United Chiba

By 2003, he was playing as a right midfielder. From 2005, he became a regular player, often playing as a left midfielder. During his time with JEF United Chiba, the club won the J.League Cup twice, in 2005 and 2006.

Moving to Kawasaki Frontale

In 2008, Yamagishi moved to Kawasaki Frontale. The club finished in second place in the J1 League in both 2008 and 2009. However, Yamagishi's playing time became less frequent during this period.

Success with Sanfrecce Hiroshima

He then joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2010. This move proved to be very successful. Sanfrecce Hiroshima won the J1 League championship in 2012 and again in 2013. They also won the Japanese Super Cup in 2013 and 2014. Yamagishi was part of the team that won the J1 League for a third time in 2015.

Later Career and Retirement

After his time at Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Yamagishi moved to J3 League club Oita Trinita in 2016. Oita Trinita won the J3 League championship that year and was promoted to the J2 League. Later, he moved to Regional Leagues club Vonds Ichihara. He retired from professional football in 2020.

Playing for Japan: National Team Career

Satoru Yamagishi also had the honor of playing for his country.

Youth National Team

In November 2003, Yamagishi was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in two matches at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Senior National Team Debut

He made his debut for the senior national team on October 4, 2006. This was a friendly match against Ghana.

Asian Cup Participation

Yamagishi was also a member of the Japan team that played in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup finals. He played in two games during this important competition. Overall, he played 11 games for Japan between 2006 and 2008.
