Saugat Malla (Nepali: सौगात मल्ल) is a very popular Nepali actor and film producer. Many people think he is one of the best actors in Nepal today. He started acting professionally in 2008. He became super famous for playing the main character, Haku Kale, in the movie Loot (2012). He has also acted in many other great films. These include Kagbeni (2007), Kabaddi Kabaddi (2015), and Kabaddi 4: The Final Match (2022).

Meet Saugat Malla
His Acting Journey
Saugat Malla began his acting career at Aarohan Gurukul. This was Nepal's very first drama school. He performed in many plays that critics loved. Some of these plays were Oedipus Rex and Agni Ko Katha. He performed these at the Gurukul Theater.
Early Roles and Big Break
Malla's first movie role was in Kagbeni (2008). This film was directed by Bhusan Dahal. It also starred Deeya Maskey and Nima Rumba. After that, he appeared in K Yo Maya Ho (2011).
He waited four years for his next big role. Then, he was chosen for Nischal Basnet's movie Loot (2012). This film became one of the most successful movies in Nepal. Saugat Malla became well-known as Haku Kale. This was the bank robber character he played in the movie. Many other Nepali films followed. These included Soongava: Dance of the Orchids (2012) and Mukhauta (2014).
Becoming a Star
In 2015, Saugat Malla starred in the romantic-comedy Kabaddi Kabaddi. This movie was directed by Ram Babu Gurung. It became one of the highest-earning Nepali films of 2015. In the film, he played Bam Kaji. His character returns to his village and falls in love. But he has to compete with another person for her affection. After Kabaddi Kabaddi came out, Malla was seen as a very important actor in Nepali cinema.
He then appeared in Dying Candle (2016). This film was directed by Naresh Kumar Kc. He starred alongside Srijana Subba and Arpan Thapa. Later, he starred in Fanko (2016). In this movie, he played a bank worker who gets kidnapped. He acted with Dayahang Rai and Priyanka Karki in Fanko.
In 2017, he starred in the crime film Loot 2. This movie was also directed by Nischal Basnet. People praised his acting in Loot 2. However, some thought it was not as good as the first Loot movie. He also acted in Fateko Jutta, a romance film. He starred with Priyanka Karki in this movie. Even though the film did not earn much money, people loved the chemistry between Malla and Priyanka Karki. More recently, Malla has appeared in romantic films. These include Jhyanakuti (2017) and Mero Paisa Khoi (2017). Jhyanakuti was successful. But Mero Paisa Khoi did not do well. It was released at the same time as another very popular film, Chhakka Panja 2.
In January 2018, Malla was on a web series called Artists Support Programme—Fashion Artist Edition.
About Saugat Malla's Life
Saugat Malla was born in Nadawa. This is a village in the Nawalparasi District of Lumbini Province. He is the younger son of Bir Bahadur Malla and Nina Malla. His family belongs to the Malla Thakuri group. His family's roots are from the Kingdom of Dhurkot. This area is now in the Gulmi District.
He spent his early life in Parasi Bazar. He went to school at Adarsh Madhyamik Bidhyalaya in Parasi.
