About Saycon Sengbloh
Saycon Sengbloh was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She started her acting journey early at the Tri-Cities School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Later, she attended Agnes Scott College in Georgia. There, she studied music and Spanish before deciding to focus fully on her acting and music career.
Saycon's Stage Career
Saycon Sengbloh has starred in many popular shows on Broadway, which is a famous theater district in New York City. Some of her roles were in musicals like Aida, Wicked, and The Color Purple. She also performed in Hair, Fela!, Motown: The Musical, and Holler If Ya Hear Me.
Breakthrough Role in Eclipsed
In 2015, Saycon got a very important role in the play Eclipsed. This play was written by Danai Gurira. It tells the story of five women in Liberia and how they survived near the end of the Second Liberian Civil War. Eclipsed made history as the first play on Broadway with an all-black and all-female creative team and cast.
The play first opened in October 2015 at The Public Theater and received great reviews. The next year, it moved to Broadway, opening at the John Golden Theatre on March 6, 2016. Saycon's performance was highly praised by critics. She won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for her role in the Off-Broadway production. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for the Broadway show.

Saycon Sengbloh has also appeared in many television shows and films. Her first screen role was in the 1997 TV movie The Ditchdigger's Daughters. In 1999, she appeared in the movie Funny Valentines, which starred Alfre Woodard.
