Scholten is a small, quiet place in Missouri, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city. Scholten is located in the northeast part of Barry County.
It's about 16 miles (26 km) northeast of a bigger town called Cassville. You can find Scholten along Missouri Route D. It's just one mile north of another community called Wheelerville and Missouri Route 248. Scholten sits at an elevation of 1,378 feet (420 m) above sea level.
A Glimpse into Scholten's History
Scholten has a bit of history, even though it's a small community. It once had its own post office. This post office opened in 1886. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1919.
The community got its name from a local family. The Scholten family lived in the area. They were important enough for the place to be named after them. This is a common way many small communities get their names.
