Scott Winfield Bond (born March 15, 1852 – died March 24, 1933) was an amazing African-American businessman from Arkansas. People sometimes called him the "Black Rockefeller" because he was so successful. He became known for his work in buying and selling farmland, running stores, and owning factories in St. Francis County.

Scott Bond was born into slavery, which meant he was not free. But he worked incredibly hard and became the first Black millionaire in Arkansas. By the time he was 60 years old, he was worth more than $2 million!

He was also part of the National Negro Business League, an organization started by Booker T. Washington. This group helped Black business owners succeed. Scott Bond also had a special connection with Daniel Rudd, a Black Catholic writer who later came to Arkansas to work with him.

Scott Bond passed away at 81 years old in a farm accident.

Scott Bond was married to Magnolia Nash. They had a large family with 11 sons. Their names were Waverly, Theophilus, Raphe, Scott Jr., John, Herman, Buford, Cody, Odie, Ulysses, and Leander.

After Scott Bond passed away, his son Theophilus worked with Daniel Rudd. They wrote a book about Scott Bond's life called "From Slavery to Wealth". This book tells the amazing story of how he went from being enslaved to becoming a wealthy and respected businessman.

Scott Bond's Burial Place

Scott Bond and his family are buried in a special place called the Scott Bond Family Plot. This burial ground is very important. In 2002, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as a place with historical importance.
