The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum is a cool place where you can see old buses and other vehicles. It's a transport museum located in Lathalmond, which is about 2.5 miles north of Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland. You can visit the museum every Sunday from April until early October.
Discovering the Museum's Past
The museum first started in 1986 in a town called Whitburn, West Lothian. Later, in 1995, it moved to its current home in Lathalmond. This new spot used to be a big storage area for the Royal Navy! The museum now owns about half of this large area, which is around 45 acres. That's a lot of space for old vehicles!
What Vehicles Can You See?
The museum has a huge collection of old vehicles. There are about 160 buses, and most of them are from the 1920s and 1930s. Imagine how old those are!
More Than Just Buses
Besides buses, the museum also has about 30 other interesting vehicles. These include:
- A small collection of railway items, which are on loan from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society.
- Many classic cars and lorries (trucks).
- A fully restored steam roller, which is a big machine used to flatten roads.
- A restored horse tram, which was a type of public transport pulled by horses.
The museum is run by a group of people called trustees. It's also a registered charity, which means it's a non-profit organization that helps the community.
