You can visit the museum every Sunday. It's open from April until the beginning of October.

History of the Museum

The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum first started in 1986. It was originally located in Whitburn, West Lothian.

Moving to Lathalmond

In 1995, the museum moved to its current home in Lathalmond. This new location used to be a big storage area for the Royal Navy.

The museum now owns a large part of this site. It covers about 45 acres, which is a lot of space for all the vehicles!

What You Can See: The Collection

The museum has an amazing collection of old vehicles. It's a great place to see how transport has changed over the years.

Buses and Other Vehicles

There are around 160 buses at the museum. Many of these buses are very old, dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. Imagine riding a bus from nearly 100 years ago!

Besides buses, the museum also has about 30 other interesting vehicles.

Special Vehicles to Explore

  • Railway Collection: There's a small collection of railway items. These are on loan from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society.
  • Classic Cars and Lorries: You can see a variety of old cars and lorries.
  • Steam Roller: There's a restored steam roller. These huge machines were used to flatten roads.
  • Horse Tram: You can also see a restored horse tram. Before electric trams, horses pulled these vehicles!

How the Museum is Run

The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum is a registered charity. This means it's a non-profit organization that helps the community.

The collection is looked after by a group of people called a board. Most of these people are trustees, who volunteer their time to help manage the museum.
