Kids Encyclopedia Facts

William Sean Sheffey is a professional skateboarder from America. He is known for his amazing skills on a skateboard.

Early Life and Inspiration

Sean Sheffey grew up in Maryland. When he was young, he loved watching other skateboarders. He was especially inspired by famous skaters like Mark Gonzales, Jesse Martinez, and Natas Kaupas. Their tricks and style made him want to become a great skateboarder too.

Becoming a Pro Skateboarder

Sean Sheffey started skateboarding and quickly became very good. After only eight months of skating, a local skate shop noticed his talent and decided to sponsor him. This meant they would help him with gear and support his skateboarding journey.

In the late 1980s, Sean went to a skateboarding contest in Ocean City, Maryland. There, he met the skateboarders from SHUT skateboards. They were impressed by him, and within a few months, SHUT Skates sponsored him!

After riding for SHUT, Sean briefly joined Santa Monica Airlines. Then, he skated for a new company called Life Skateboards, started by Ron Allen. In 1991, Sean appeared in a skate video called A Soldier's Story. In this video, he did a really cool trick: a fakie ollie right over a school lunch table! A fakie ollie is when you ride backward and then jump with your board.

Joining Plan B and Other Teams

After Life Skateboards, Sean Sheffey joined a brand-new company called Plan B. This team was full of super talented skaters like Danny Way, Rick Howard, Sal Barbier, Matt Hensley, and Rodney Mullen. Sean was featured in their famous 1992 video, Questionable.

Later, Sean skated for other well-known companies, including Girl Distribution Company and then Blind Skateboards.

Magazine Covers and Return to Plan B

In July 1994, Sean Sheffey was on the cover of Transworld Skateboarding magazine. The picture showed him doing a kickflip at Fort Miley Military Reservation. You could even see the cool art he drew on his skateboard's grip tape!

When Plan B Skateboards started up again in the 2010s, Sean Sheffey rejoined the team, continuing his skateboarding career with them.
