Seaview Cottage: A Historic Home
This cottage was built by a person named John Nicol Drummond. He was an early farmer and rancher in the area. The cottage is small, with just two rooms made of stone. It faces west and has porches at both the front and back.
Who Lived in Seaview Cottage?
After a while, Mary Drummond moved into Seaview with her adopted daughter, Rosie. They came from a place called White Peak Station. Later, John Drummond also lived at the cottage until he passed away in 1906. He was 90 years old then. Some time after John's death, Mary moved to Subiaco, Western Australia.
What Happened to the Cottage?
After Mary left, the cottage was empty for many years. It slowly fell into disrepair and became a ruin. But don't worry, that's not the end of its story!
Restoring Seaview Cottage
The cottage was carefully fixed up as part of a new housing area called the Bayside Estate. It was officially reopened in 1995 by Kevin Minson, who was a local government representative. Now, Seaview Cottage stands as a reminder of the past.
