Sebastião Barroso Lazaroni is a famous Brazilian football manager. He was born on September 25, 1950, in Muriaé, Brazil. He has coached many different football teams around the world.
Lazaroni is known for trying new ideas in football. He once tried to use a special player position called the libero in Brazilian football. A libero is like an extra defender who can also move forward and help attack. He used a team setup called the 3-5-2 formation during the 1990 FIFA World Cup. This formation uses three defenders, five midfielders, and two forwards. Even though it was a new idea, Brazil was knocked out of the tournament early by Argentina.

Lazaroni's Coaching Journey
Leading Brazil to Victory
Sebastião Lazaroni coached the Brazilian national team from March 1989 to June 1990. During this time, he led the team in 30 matches. They won 19 games, drew 7, and lost only 4.
One of his biggest achievements was helping Brazil win the South American Championship in 1989. This was a huge moment because it was Brazil's first Copa América title in 39 years!
European Success
Lazaroni also coached the Turkish club Fenerbahçe. In 1996, his team achieved something amazing. They ended Manchester United's 40-year undefeated home record in the UEFA Champions' League. This was a very impressive win for Fenerbahçe.
Coaching in Qatar
Lazaroni had several coaching roles in Qatar. He coached the Qatar national team starting in August 2011. However, his time with the national team was short. He was let go after about four months because the team's performance was not as strong as hoped. One reason was that Qatar, as the host, did not get past the group stage in the 2011 Pan Arab Games.
He also coached the club team Qatar SC three different times. His last time with Qatar SC ended in May 2016. The team was moved down to a lower league, which was a disappointing end to his time there.
