Seishi Kishimoto (岸本 聖史, Kishimoto Seishi, born November 8, 1974) is a Japanese manga artist. A manga artist is someone who draws Japanese comic books. He is well-known for his series 666 Satan, which was also called O-Parts Hunter in North America. This manga was published in a magazine called Monthly Shōnen Gangan from 2001 to 2007.

Since then, Seishi Kishimoto has created four more manga series. These include Blazer Drive (2008–2011), Kurenai no Ōkami to Ashikase no Hitsuji (2011–2013), Sukedachi 09 (2014–2016), and Mad Chimera World (2017–2019). He is the identical twin brother of Masashi Kishimoto, who is famous for creating the Naruto manga series.

About Seishi Kishimoto

Seishi Kishimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, on November 8, 1974. He is the younger identical twin of Masashi Kishimoto. When they were in elementary school, both brothers loved watching the Kinnikuman anime. This show inspired them to start drawing their own superhero characters.

Early Manga Works

Kishimoto's very first manga was a "one-shot" called Trigger. A one-shot is a comic story that is complete in just one chapter. It was published in a magazine called Gangan Powered in 2001. He wanted to write about "faith and family relationships" in this story. However, it was hard to fit all his ideas into the limited number of pages.

His first "serialized" work was 666 Satan. A serialized work means it comes out in parts over time. This series began in Monthly Shōnen Gangan in 2001. 666 Satan ran for six years and was released in many countries. Viz Media published it in North America.

Later Manga Series

After 666 Satan finished, Kishimoto started Blazer Drive in 2008. This manga appeared in the first issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Rival magazine. Before Blazer Drive, he also made a short prequel story called Tribal. Blazer Drive continued until December 2010 and was even made into a video game.

In 2011, he created another one-shot called Jūniji no Kaneganaru. This story was published in a shōjo magazine called Aria. Shōjo manga are usually aimed at young female readers. In 2012, Kishimoto launched Kurenai no Ōkami to Ashikase no Hitsuji in Monthly Shōnen Rival. This series ran until 2013.

Recent Projects

In 2014, Kishimoto began working on Sukedachi 09. This was a unique project with two linked series. One was a print series in Monthly Shōnen Gangan, and the other was a digital series on Gangan Online. Both stories happened at the same time but followed different main characters. The print series started in October 2014, and the digital series followed a few days later. Sukedachi 09 finished in July 2016. Crunchyroll later made the manga available in English online.

Kishimoto then started the seinen action series Mad Chimera World in April 2017. Seinen manga are typically for older male readers. This series was published in Kodansha's Monthly Morning Two magazine. A special one-shot of Mad Chimera World was released in November 2017. This was to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Weekly Morning magazine. The main series ended in January 2019.

On January 20, 2021, a one-shot called Yobigami was published on DeNA's free Manga Box website. Kishimoto drew this for a TV show called Oh! My Boss! Koi wa Bessatsu de. He was credited under the name Ukyō Arazome for this work. To celebrate Manga Box's eighth anniversary, Kishimoto launched a new weekly manga. This "battle fantasy" shōnen manga, Monster Life and the Earth, started on December 4, 2021. It expands on the world of Yobigami.

Drawing Style and Influences

Seishi and his twin brother Masashi have been drawing manga since they were very young. Because of this, their drawing styles are quite similar. Sometimes, people have thought that one brother copied the other. This includes not just their artwork but also parts of their stories.

Seishi Kishimoto has explained that these similarities are not on purpose. He believes they happen because both brothers were influenced by many of the same things as they grew up. They both loved similar comics, TV shows, and stories, which shaped their artistic styles.
