Selam Tesfaye (Amharic: ሰላም ተስፋዬ) is a famous Ethiopian actress. She was born on October 17, 1992. Selam is known for playing lead roles in many movies. She has won several awards, including the Gumma Film Awards. This makes her one of the most popular stars in the Ethiopian film world.
She played the main character in the movie Crumbs. This film was directed by Miguel Llansó. It was special because it was promoted as the first science-fiction movie made in Ethiopia.

Early Life and Background
Selam Tesfaye was born in a military camp called "Tolay." This camp is located in Harar, eastern Ethiopia. Her parents are from the Tigrayan ethnic group.
She later moved to Humera and studied there from fourth to tenth grade. When she moved to Addis Ababa, she first spoke only Tigrinya. She worked hard to learn to speak Amharic fluently. This helped her to act in movies. Selam has often said that she loves acting more than any other art form.
Her Acting Career
Selam became well-known in 2013 with the movie Sost Maezen. This action-drama film won international awards. After that, she acted in many other Ethiopian movies.
She also had a main role in Hiwot Bedereja (2014). In this film, she played a student who faced bullying. Selam also appeared in the romantic drama movie Lik Negn (2013).
In 2015, Selam played the character Sayat in the science fiction film Crumbs. This movie was the first of its kind made in Ethiopia. It received many awards and positive reviews.
After 2016, Selam took on many roles in films. She became known for her parts in romantic drama movies. These include Seba Zetegn (2016) and Yimeches Yarada Lij 2 (2017). She also starred in the 2015 comedy film Tilefegn with Kassahun Fesseha.
In 2017, Selam returned for the sequel to Sost Maezen, called Sost Maezen 2. That same year, she also acted in comedy films. These were Yabedech Yarada Lij 3 and Atse Mandela.
Personal Life
Selam had a long relationship with Amanuel Tesfaye. They got engaged and then married in 2018. They have one child together. Selam and Amanuel Tesfaye separated in 2022. She currently lives with her mother in Addis Ababa.

In September 2018, Selam won a special award. She received the Best Actress award at the 9th Addis Music Awards. This award was for her role in the film Yabedech Yarada Lij.
