Semele is a person in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Cadmus and Harmonia. She has a child with Zeus called Dionysus, who grows up to be a god. Her family do not believe her that Zeus is the father. When Hera, Zeus's wife, finds out he has another woman pregnant, she tries to destroy a pregnant Semele. Zeus rescues Dionysus, but Semele is destroyed. Her family believe that Zeus has killed her as a punishment for lying about him being the father.
