Music Career
Success with Cypress Hill
Sen Dog is a key member of the rap group Cypress Hill. The group has released many successful albums. Several of their albums have reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, which tracks the most popular albums in the U.S. Their album Black Sunday even reached the number one spot.
Some of Cypress Hill's most famous songs featuring Sen Dog include "Insane in the Brain" and "(Rap/Rock) Superstar."
Other Music Projects
In the late 1990s, Sen Dog took a break from Cypress Hill to start a new band called SX-10. He wanted this band to mix rock and rap music with a funky sound and Latin influences. SX-10 released an album called Mad Dog American in 2000.
In 1996, he took part in a special project for a good cause. He performed the song "Quien Es Ese Negro (Who's That Black Dude)" for the album Silencio=Muerte: Red Hot + Latin. This album was made by the Red Hot Organization to help raise awareness.
Going Solo
On September 30, 2008, Sen Dog released his first solo album, Diary of a Mad Dog. This was a big moment for him, as it came 17 years after the first Cypress Hill album.
In an interview, Sen Dog explained that this album allowed him to be more personal. He said, "With Cypress, I never really felt that comfortable to put personal aspects of my life into the music. It feels good to have the opportunity to be the quarterback... and be creative." He also said he wanted to have fun with the album and explore different kinds of music without a set plan.
Personal Life
Senen Reyes grew up with Dave Lombardo, who was the drummer for the band Slayer. They were childhood friends and went to the same high school.
He is the older brother of another rapper, Mellow Man Ace (Ulpiano Sergio Reyes). Today, Reyes lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
