The Senior Officers' School, Belgaum was a special military school in India. It was set up by the British in 1920. This school trained high-ranking officers from all parts of the military. Its goal was to help them work better together.
The School's Story
This school was first made for officers in the Indian Army. These officers wanted to become leaders of large groups of soldiers, like a battalion. The school made sure they got the right training for this important job.
The school also wanted officers to think about more than just military tasks. Its lessons included topics like politics, geography, and new technologies. This helped officers understand the bigger world where the army might operate.
The very first leader of the school was Brigadier-General Henry ap Rhys Pryce. He started in December 1920. The last leader was Brigadier William Slim, 1st Viscount Slim. He took charge in June 1939. The school closed just a few months later, in September 1939. This happened because World War II began in Europe.
There was also a similar school in England. It was called the Senior Officers' School, Sheerness. It was located in Sheerness.
