Sérgio Bernardino (born December 23, 1953) is a famous Brazilian football player and coach. He is best known by his nickname, Serginho Chulapa, or simply Serginho. He played as a striker, which means he was a main goal scorer for his teams.

Serginho's Football Journey
Serginho Chulapa started his amazing football career in Brazil. He became known for his powerful shots and goal-scoring ability. He played for several big clubs and also represented his country.
Playing for São Paulo FC
Serginho was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He started playing football in the youth teams of São Paulo. His first game for the main team was on June 6, 1973. He scored his first goal just four days later.
After a short loan, Serginho became a very important player for São Paulo. In the 1977 season, he scored an impressive 18 goals. He helped São Paulo win the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1977. They also won the Campeonato Paulista state championship three times with him.
Playing for Santos FC
In 1983, Serginho moved to Santos. He quickly became a star there too. He was the top goal scorer in two major tournaments that year. He scored 22 goals in both the Campeonato Paulista and the Série A.
The next year, in 1984, he helped Santos win the state championship. During his first time at Santos, he scored 74 goals in 110 matches. He returned to Santos two more times later in his career.
Playing for Corinthians and Other Clubs
In 1985, Serginho joined Corinthians. This team was known for having many high-quality players. After a good season, he left the club.
He returned to Santos in 1986. Later, he played for Marítimo in Portugal. He also played for Malatyaspor in Turkey. Serginho finished his playing career in Brazil in 1993, at the age of 39.
Serginho's International Career
Serginho also played for the Brazilian national team. He played 20 games for his country between 1979 and 1982. He was part of the Brazilian team in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. In that World Cup, he played in all five matches and scored two goals.
He also played for Brazil in a special tournament for older players. This was called the World Cup of Masters in 1990. He even scored in the final game against the Netherlands.
Serginho's Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Serginho became a football coach. He often worked as an assistant coach. He also had times when he was the main manager.
Coaching at Santos FC
Serginho returned to Santos in 1994 as an assistant coach. He became the temporary manager for a while. He later returned to Santos several times as an assistant coach. He also had a few more times as an interim (temporary) manager.
Coaching Other Teams
He managed other clubs too. In 1995, he was in charge of União São João. In 1996, he managed Portuguesa Santista. He helped them get back to the first division of the Paulistão league.
He also coached São Caetano and other teams. Serginho left his coaching role at Santos in 2022. He joined a special program for the club's legendary players.
