Serveta facts for kids
Serveta was a company from Spain that made scooters. They built scooters for many years, from 1954 until 1989.
History of Serveta Scooters
In 1952, a group of business people from the Basque Country in Spain started a company. They called it Lambretta Locomociones SA. They got permission to build Lambretta scooters in Spain.
They began making scooters two years later, in 1954. Their factory was built especially for this in a town called Eibar. Many people bought their scooters. Around 1964, the company started using the name Serveta SA for its business.
In 1982, the company's owners changed. So, the company changed its name to Lambretta SAL. The company then faced some tough times. In 1985, it changed owners again. Production moved to a shared factory in Amurrio.
By the late 1980s, fewer people were buying their scooters. Serveta only built scooters when someone ordered them. Finally, in 1989, they stopped making scooters completely.
Where Serveta Scooters Were Sold
At first, Serveta scooters were only sold in Spain. But by 1970, their scooters were also sold in the UK. They were sold alongside scooters made by another company called Innocenti.
By the end of the 1970s, Serveta scooters were sold in the United States too. They were also sold in the UK under their own Serveta name.
