Setareh Eskandari is a talented actress from Iran. She acts in plays, movies, and TV shows. She was born on June 15, 1974. Many people know her from her roles in TV series, which she started doing in 1994. One of her most famous roles was in the TV series Narges. She has won awards for being the best actress at the Fajr International Theater Festival twice. These awards were for her roles in the plays Unfortunate People’s Shaky Happiness (in 2000) and Co-aspiration (in 2014).

Life and Career of Setareh Eskandari

Setareh Eskandari was born in 1974 in Torbat-e Heydarieh, a city in northeastern Iran. She started studying English translation in college. But she decided to follow her dream of acting instead. In 1993, she joined the students at The Faculty of Fine Arts.

Early Acting Days

For about six years, Setareh performed in student theater festivals. She was even nominated for an award in 1995 for her part in the play Legend. Two years later, she was recognized again at the Fajr International Theater Festival. This was for her role in the play Earth’s Last Heroes.

Becoming a Professional Actress

Setareh's first professional play was The Gold-Toothed in 1999. It was directed by Davoud Mirbagheri. She also joined a theater group called "Dey." At the same time, she started acting in TV shows and movies. Her first movie role was in Rival of the Heart in 1996.

In 2001, she won the Best Actress Award at the Fajr Theater Festival. This was for her role in The Joy of Influencing the Lives of the Unfortunate.

Setareh Eskandari has starred in many popular TV series. Some of these include The Gradual Death of a Dream (2006), Until Morning (2006), Factor 8 (2008), and Passion for Flying (2011).

Beyond Acting

Besides acting, Setareh has also directed two plays for TV. She has also produced several plays, like The House of Bernarda Alba.

She directed a film called The sun of that moon. This movie is about the women of Baluchistan. Critics and international festivals have praised the film.

Since 2019, Setareh Eskandari has been the manager of the Iranian Puppet Museum. This museum is located in Mana Cafe House in Tehran. In 2023, she was a jury member at the 22nd Pune International Film Festival in India. This was her first time being part of a film festival jury.

  • Casablanca Award for best foreign movie and Stanley Kubrick Award for best film director at the international IMAGO Film Festival of Civitella del Tronto in 2023.
  • At the Asia Pacific Film Festival in Macau, China (November 2023), she won Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Script, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume.
