Seven-colour tea or seven-layer tea (Bengali: সাত রং চা) is a special Bangladeshi drink. It's famous for its beautiful layers of different colours. Each layer of the tea has its own unique taste and colour. This creates a cool pattern of dark and light bands in the glass. This unique drink was invented by Romesh Ram Gour. He discovered that different types of tea leaves have different weights. This allows them to settle into separate layers.

The Story Behind Seven-Layer Tea
Romesh Ram Gour created the seven-layer tea. He found out that different tea leaves have different densities. This means some are heavier and some are lighter. When brewed carefully, they can form separate layers. Each layer has a different colour and flavour. These flavours can range from sweet and syrupy to spicy with a hint of clove.
Where to Find This Special Tea
The original seven-colour tea is mostly found in a tea shop called Nilkantha Tea Cabin. This shop is in Srimongol, which is in the Moulvibazar area of Bangladesh. You can also find other versions of this layered tea in different parts of Bangladesh. Some places even make tea with two, three, or up to ten layers!
A Special Visitor Tries the Tea
Once, the ambassador from Qatar, Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Dehaimi, visited Bangladesh. He tried the seven-coloured tea during his trip to Srimangal. He was very impressed by it. As a reward for creating such a unique drink, Romesh Ram Gour received a good amount of money from the Qatari ambassador.
