Shadow the Hedgehog (video game) facts for kids
Shadow the Hedgehog is a 2005 3D platform video game that is a spin-off to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox and developed by Sonic Team.
Players can play as Shadow the Hedgehog and go on multiple paths depending on his actions. If he does more good actions, he can cause Chaos Control. If he does more evil actions, he can cause Chaos Blast. Shadow can drive in vehicles and grab guns from enemies such as the Black Arms and G.U.N.
Shadow the Hedgehog was encountered by the leader of the Black Arms, Black Doom to find the 7 Chaos Emeralds and give them to him. Shadow has forgotten all about himself and decides to get the Chaos Emeralds so he'll remember who he is. In all ten endings, Shadow has collected the Chaos Emeralds to himself and declares who he is. Once the ten endings are done, a secret ending can be unlocked. Shadow refuses to give the Chaos Emeralds to Black Doom, who is his father. Black Doom spreads nerve gas towards Shadow's friends and becomes Devil Doom. Shadow becomes Super Shadow and defeats Devil Doom.
The game has had mixed to negative reviews. Many didn't like the forced profanity, gun violence and aliens. Some liked the replay-ability and multiple endings of the game. The PlayStation 2 version is known for having more bugs and glitches, just like the PlayStation 2 port of Sonic Heroes.

Shadow uses a submachine gun to shoot a G.U.N. soldier. The game's mature themes and addition of guns were two major areas of criticism.
Completing "Hero," "Dark," or "Normal" missions determines which levels are subsequently playable. Each gray box represents a level, and each red or blue box represents a boss mission at the end of the game. The colored lines that connect levels show how the completion of certain missions affects the storyline.
