Shamika Cotton is an American actress from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is well-known for playing the character Raylene Lee in the TV series The Wire.
Early Life and Education
Shamika Cotton was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She went to Withrow High School and graduated in 1994. While there, she studied advanced chemistry and played softball and volleyball.
She also attended Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts. There, she focused on choir, flute, and theater. Later, she went to Central State University and earned a degree in manufacturing engineering in 1999.

Shamika Cotton began her acting career in 2003. She has appeared in many television shows and movies.
In 2006, she was on a reality TV show called I Wanna Be A Soap Star. Her performances on the show were well-received and even featured on Entertainment Tonight.
In November 2007, Shamika started a weekly video series on YouTube called the “Shamika Chronicles.” This series gave viewers a real look into her daily life as an actress trying to make it in the industry.
