Playing for West Coast Eagles
Shane played only one game for the West Coast Eagles. This game was at the WACA Ground. His team won against Footscray. Shane played as a wingman. He got into the team because another player, Chris Waterman, was late for a meeting.
WAFL and Indigenous All-Stars
Shane also played for the Perth Football Club in the WAFL league. In 1994, he played for the Indigenous All-Stars team. He was the top goal-kicker for Perth in both 1993 and 1995.
Coaching and Media Work
In 2005, Shane helped coach the East Perth Football Club for one game. This happened when their regular coach was sick. In 2004, Shane started his own magazine. It was called Westside Football. The magazine covered news about the AFL and WAFL.
Life After Football
After his football career, Shane Cable worked for a mining company called Rio Tinto. In 2016, he became the CEO of a company called Indigenous Construction Resource Group (ICRG). This company helped create jobs for Aboriginal communities. Later, Shane also owned another company called Resource Operations and Maintenance Services.
