Mark Shepherd started his wrestling career in 2007. For several years, he wrestled for different wrestling companies. These included International Wrestling Cartel and VIP Wrestling. He gained experience on the "independent circuit." This means he wrestled for smaller, independent groups.

Joining Ring of Honor and AEW (2014–Present)

First Steps in ROH (2014–2017)

Shane Taylor first appeared in Ring of Honor (ROH) in November 2014. He wrestled in a "dark match," which is a match not shown on TV. He returned to ROH in April 2015 for another dark match.

In May 2015, Taylor began teaming up with another wrestler, Keith Lee. By September 2015, they called their team the "Pretty Boy Killers." They wrestled against many other teams.

In 2016, the Pretty Boy Killers took part in big matches. They tried to become the top challengers for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. They faced teams like the Briscoe Brothers and War Machine. In January 2017, Shane Taylor signed his first official contract with ROH. The Pretty Boy Killers team later broke up when Keith Lee left ROH.

The Rebellion and Title Goals (2017–2019)

In spring 2017, Taylor joined a wrestling group called The Rebellion. This group included Rhett Titus, Kenny King, and Caprice Coleman. The Rebellion group broke up in June 2017. This happened after they lost a special match where the losing team had to disband.

In October 2017, Taylor won a match against Cheeseburger. This win made him the number one challenger for the ROH World Television Championship. In December 2017, Taylor competed for the TV title but did not win it. He continued to wrestle many matches in ROH. He faced wrestlers like Bullet Club and Hangman Page. In December 2018, Taylor signed an exclusive contract with ROH.

In March 2019, Taylor tried again to win the ROH World Television Championship. He challenged Jeff Cobb but was unsuccessful. In April 2019, Taylor took part in a "New York City street fight." He teamed with Bully Ray and Silas Young but they lost the match.

Becoming a Champion (2019–2021)

In May 2019, Shane Taylor finally won the ROH World Television Championship. He defeated Jeff Cobb in a special "Four Corner Survival match." He successfully defended his title several times. He beat wrestlers like Bandido and Tracy Williams.

In September 2019, there was a storyline where ROH pretended to end Taylor's contract. This was because he had "criticized" the company. Despite this, he kept defending his title. His reign as TV Champion ended in December 2019. He lost the title to Dragon Lee.

Later in 2019, Taylor formed a new group called "Shane Taylor Promotions." This group included Jasper Kaun, Moses Maddox, and Ron Hunt. In February 2021, Shane Taylor Promotions (Taylor, Kaun, and Moses) won the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. They successfully defended these titles. In December 2021, Taylor won a tough match against Kenny King. At the same event, Kaun, Moses, and O'Shay Edwards lost the Six-Man Tag Team Championship. ROH then took a break after All Elite Wrestling bought it.

After the Break (2022–Present)

Taylor returned to ROH in December 2022. He teamed with JD Griffey, but they lost their match. He also made his first appearance in AEW, ROH's sister company. He won a tag team match on AEW Dark.

In August 2023, Taylor won a tournament. This win gave him another chance at the ROH World Television Championship. He challenged the champion, Samoa Joe, but he did not win the title.

In September 2023, Taylor reformed Shane Taylor Promotions. This time, it was a tag team with Lee Moriarty. In February 2024, it was announced that Taylor had signed a special deal with AEW. In April 2024, Taylor added Anthony Ogogo to Shane Taylor Promotions. In October 2024, he also brought The Infantry (Carlie Bravo, Shawn Dean, and Trish Adora) into his group.
