Shane Tongerie (born 10 February 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer. He played for the Adelaide Crows in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Shane Tongerie started his football journey playing for the Central District team. This team is part of the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). The SANFL is a major football league in South Australia.
Joining the Adelaide Crows
In 1994, Shane was chosen by the Adelaide Crows. He was the 18th player picked in the 1994 Pre-Season Draft. This is how professional teams choose new players.
His First Game in the AFL
Shane made his first appearance, or "debut," in the AFL with the Adelaide Crows. In his very first game, he scored three goals! This was against the Brisbane Bears team at a stadium called the Gabba. He came into the game from the bench as a substitute player.
However, after this great start, Shane played three more games. He didn't get to touch the ball much in those games. Because of this, he later lost his spot on the team.
Being an Indigenous All-Star
Shane Tongerie is an Indigenous Australian. This means he is a descendant of Australia's first people.
In 1994, Shane was part of a special team called the Aboriginal All-Stars. This team was made up of talented Indigenous Australian rules footballers.
