Shani's Early Life
Shani Hazan was born and grew up in a city in Israel called Kiryat Ata. Her family has roots in Morocco, making them Moroccan Jews.
Becoming Miss Israel
When Shani competed for the Miss Israel title, she was 19 years old. At that time, she was serving in the Israeli Navy as a sailor. The Israeli Navy is part of the Israel Defense Forces, which is Israel's military. Winning the Miss Israel contest was a big achievement for her while she was also serving her country.
