She is married to Gray Davis, who used to be the governor of California. Before becoming First Lady, she was the Second Lady of California from 1995 to 1999. Sharon Davis was also once crowned Miss Santee and wrote a children's book called The Adventures of Capitol Kitty.

Early Life and Beginnings

Sharon Davis grew up in Santee, California. She went to Santana High School there. While in high school, she took part in the Miss Santee beauty contest and won the title. After finishing high school, she started working as a flight attendant for Pacific Southwest Airlines.

Meeting Her Husband

Sharon met Gray Davis in 1979. At that time, Gray Davis was working as the Chief of Staff for Jerry Brown, who was the Governor of California. They got married in 1980.

As First Lady of California

When her husband became governor, Sharon Davis took on the role of First Lady. She cared a lot about children's health and education, especially helping kids learn to read.

Helping Kids Read: The Governor's Book Fund

As First Lady, Sharon Davis started something special called the Governor's Book Fund. This fund helped provide money for school libraries. Libraries are important places where kids can find many books to read and learn from.

To help raise money for this fund, Sharon Davis wrote a children's book. It was called The Adventures of Capitol Kitty. The money earned from selling her book went directly to the fund. Through her efforts, she helped raise about $750,000 for school libraries across California.
