This movie was based on a popular book written by her good friend, Helen Fielding. It's said that one of the characters in the book and movie, named "Shazza," was inspired by Sharon Maguire herself!

Sharon Maguire was born in Coventry, England. She went to the University of Wales Aberystwyth where she studied English and drama.
