Sharon Stewart-Peregoy was born on June 3, 1953. She is an American politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She currently serves in the Montana House of Representatives. She was first elected to the Montana House in 2017. She represents House District 42.
Before this, she served in the Montana Senate from 2009 to 2017. She represented Senate District 21. This district included her hometown, Crow Agency, Montana. She was also a member of the Senate's American Indian Caucus. She studied elementary education at Montana State University. She earned a Master of Education degree from City University at Seattle. Sharon Stewart-Peregoy works hard to keep the Crow language and culture alive.
In 2009, she became a teacher at Little Big Horn College. She taught Crow Studies. In 2021, she helped plan a new cultural museum. She wanted more use of the Crow language there.

Sharon Stewart-Peregoy's Political Work
Even though the Montana legislature usually speaks only English, Sharon Stewart-Peregoy chose to be sworn in using the Crow language. She joined the American Indian Caucus. This group had nine members, including her.
In the legislature, she has focused on important issues. She works on the high rates of missing Indigenous people in Montana. She also works on domestic violence issues affecting Indigenous communities.
