Shaun Edwards's Football Journey
Shaun Edwards started his professional football journey when he was picked by the Greater Western Sydney Giants in 2011. Before joining the AFL, he played in the NEAFL. His first NEAFL game was against the Northern Territory Thunder.
Shaun made his official AFL debut in 2012. This was in Round 4 against the Adelaide Crows. In October 2013, he moved to the Essendon Football Club.
He spent the 2014 season playing for Essendon's VFL team. Then, in 2015, he joined the main Essendon team. Shaun even won an award in 2016 called the Bill Hutchinson Community Award. This award recognized his work in the community.
A New Path: Education and Community Work
After the 2016 season, Shaun left Essendon. He was then picked by the Sydney Swans in the 2017 rookie draft. However, he did not play any games for Sydney that year.
At the end of 2017, Shaun decided to retire from AFL football. He chose to focus on something very important to him: helping with Indigenous education. He wanted to work on this in Australia and around the world.
