Shaun Murray is a famous American wakeboarder. He has won the World Championship four times! He is also the main character in a video game called Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray. This game came out on June 3, 2003, for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance. Later, a version for computers was released on December 22, 2003. You could even play a demo of his game in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 on PlayStation 2.

Shaun Murray's Early Life

Shaun Murray started learning to water ski when he was 8 years old. He first tried it on San Diego Bay. When he was 11, his family visited Lake Shasta. There, he took a lesson in slalom skiing.

After that, his family rented a "Skurfer" to try it out. This was his very first time trying wakeboarding! The next year, his family moved to Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Shaun joined the Lake St. Louis Water Ski Club. He practiced a lot and became very skilled there.

After high school, he moved to Florida. He joined the ski team at Florida Southern College. He also taught skiing at the Benzel Ski School. Shaun decided to take a break from school to focus on wakeboarding. He got so good that he earned scholarships. He also joined some of the biggest teams in the sport. His career took off, and he has been a successful professional wakeboarder ever since!

Shaun Murray's Amazing Career

Shaun Murray's wakeboarding career began in 1995. He has achieved many great things. He has won many Pro Tour and World Championship titles. Shaun even created his own wakeboard teaching videos called "Detention." He has been in many wakeboard movies, magazines, and TV shows.

In 2004, Shaun hurt his knee while riding. He tore several important ligaments. Doctors told him he might not be able to ride again. But just a few months later, he was back on his board! He has also helped design many products. These include boats, wakeboards, life jackets, wet suits, and clothing lines.

From 2003 to 2013, Shaun ran a wakeboard camp. It was called The Boarding School. He ran it with his friend Travis Moye. Shaun left the camp in 2013. This was because Nautique bought a cable park. They asked him to spend more time there as a coach.

Shaun has won many wakeboard titles. His career has lasted from 1998 until today (2020). He was the first wakeboarder ever to land a "900" trick. This is a very difficult spin! He is also the only rider to hold World, Pro Tour, and National Champion titles all at the same time. In 2005, Wakeboard magazine gave him a "Legend" award. He has been on the list of favorite male riders in Wakeboarding Mag's Reader's Poll every year. Shaun's sponsors include Hyperlite, Fox, Nautiques, Reef, Jet Pilot, and Freestyle Performance.

Shaun Murray was a contestant on the TV show American Ninja Warrior. He appeared on the show in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018. In 2015, he placed 25th in the qualifying rounds. He was eliminated at obstacle number 7 in the city finals.

Shaun Murray is married to Kerri Murray. They have three daughters together. Shaun is a Christian.
