Shauna MacDonald is a Canadian actress who has appeared in many movies and television shows. She is also a talented director, writer, and voice actor. For a time, she was famous as the secret voice of a major Canadian radio station.

From Nova Scotia to the Big Screen
Shauna MacDonald was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. After high school, she went to McGill University in Montreal. There, she earned a degree in Russian and Slavic Studies.
The Secret Voice of CBC Radio
In 2004, MacDonald became the voice of CBC Radio One. She was a continuity announcer, which means she was the voice people heard between programs. Her identity was kept a secret, and listeners nicknamed her Promo Girl.
The radio station even created a fun mystery series called Promo Girl in The Mystery of... Listeners could solve clues to win prizes. In 2005, a newspaper called The Globe and Mail finally revealed that Shauna MacDonald was the voice behind Promo Girl.
Acting Career
MacDonald has acted in many popular Canadian shows. She played Officer Erica Miller in Trailer Park Boys and Claire Monroe in These Arms of Mine. She also appeared in the historical TV movie Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion.
She has also been in American productions. She played Tara in the horror movies Saw VI and Saw 3D. She also had roles in the TV series Reign and Hemlock Grove.
Writing and Directing
Besides acting, MacDonald is also a filmmaker. In 2013, she co-wrote and co-directed a movie called Tru Love. She also starred in the film. Her movie was a success and won an audience award at a Toronto film festival in 2014.
