The Shaw Tower is a very tall building located in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It stands right by the water in an area called Coal Harbour. This impressive tower is home to the main offices for Shaw Communications in the Lower Mainland region. A famous local architect named James K. M. Cheng designed it.
What is the Shaw Tower?
The Shaw Tower is a skyscraper that reaches about 489 feet (149 meters) into the sky. That's as tall as a 41-story building! It was finished in 2004. Today, it is one of the tallest buildings in Vancouver, ranking as the fifth-tallest.
Inside the Tower
The building has different sections for different uses. The lower 16 floors of the Shaw Tower are used for offices. Many businesses have their workspaces here.
The upper 24 floors are where people live. These floors contain 130 special apartments called "work-live condominiums." This means people can both live and work in the same space.
Shaw Communications, the company the building is named after, uses a large part of the tower. They occupy 11 full floors for their offices.
The Shaw Tower actually has two official addresses. The business address, used for the offices, is 1067 West Cordova Street. The residential address, for the homes, is 1077 West Cordova Street.
