Shawn Mathis Wayans (born January 19, 1971) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is a member of the famous Wayans family, who are known for their work in comedy.
Shawn often works with his younger brother, Marlon Wayans. Together, they have created some of the most popular comedy movies of the 2000s. Their famous films include Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), White Chicks (2004), and Little Man (2006).
Before his movie career, Shawn became famous on the TV show In Living Color. He later starred with Marlon in the sitcom The Wayans Bros. from 1995 to 1999. After a break from acting, it was announced in early 2025 that Shawn would return for Scary Movie 6 and White Chicks 2.

Growing Up in New York City
Shawn Wayans was born in New York City. He was the ninth of ten children in his family. His mother, Elvira Alethia, was a homemaker and social worker. His father, Howell Stouten Wayans, was a supermarket manager.
Shawn grew up in the Fulton Houses, a housing project in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. In 1989, he graduated from the Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities.

Shawn Wayans has had a long career making people laugh, both on television and in movies. He is known for writing, producing, and acting in his projects.
A Start in Television
Shawn's career took off in the early 1990s when he joined the cast of the popular sketch comedy show In Living Color. He appeared on the show from 1990 to 1993.
In 1995, he and his brother Marlon created and starred in their own TV show, The Wayans Bros.. The show was about two brothers living in an apartment in Harlem, New York. It was very popular and ran for five seasons until 1999. Shawn also did voice acting for the animated show Waynehead.
Hit Comedy Movies
Shawn Wayans is most famous for the comedy movies he made with his brother Marlon. They often wrote and produced these films together.
- Don't Be a Menace... (1996): This was one of the first movies Shawn co-wrote and starred in. It made fun of other movies from that time.
- Scary Movie (2000) and Scary Movie 2 (2001): Shawn co-wrote and starred as Ray Wilkins in these hit films. The movies are parodies, which means they make fun of famous horror films.
- White Chicks (2004): In this popular comedy, Shawn and Marlon play FBI agents who go undercover as two white women. Shawn played Kevin Copeland.
