Sherry White is a talented Canadian writer, producer, director, and actress. She is well-known for creating and producing the TV show Pretty Hard Cases. She also wrote the script for the popular 2016 movie Maudie.

Early Life and Learning

Sherry White grew up in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador. She went to Memorial University of Newfoundland's Grenfell College. There, she studied theatre and learned about acting and filmmaking. Some of her classmates became famous actors and writers too.

Her Career in Film and TV

Sherry White started her career by making short films. Two of her films, Diamonds in the Bucket and Spoiled, were shown at many festivals. Later, she wrote and directed her first full-length movie, Crackie. This film was nominated for a Genie Award.

She then began working on many TV shows. She helped write and produce crime dramas like The Catch and police shows like Rookie Blue. She also worked on Orphan Black and Saving Hope. Her work on Little Dog earned her two nominations from the Directors Guild of Canada.

As an actress, Sherry White has appeared in plays, TV shows, and movies. In the mid-2000s, she was part of the TV series Hatching, Matching and Dispatching. She played Myrna Furey-Meany in this show. She returned to play the same character in the 2017 TV movie A Christmas Fury.

In 2018, Sherry White won a big award for her writing. She received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Original Screenplay for the movie Maudie. This film starred famous actors Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke.

Sherry White also co-created the exciting TV series Pretty Hard Cases with Tassie Cameron. This show started in 2021 on CBC Television. Sherry White was a main producer for all three seasons. She also directed four episodes of the show. In 2022, she and Tassie Cameron won an award for writing an episode called “Bananas”.
