The Castle's Long History
For more than 750 years, the Chancellor family called Shieldhill Castle their home. Imagine living in the same house for hundreds of years, with many generations of your family growing up there! It was a very special place for them.
After being a family home for such a long time, the castle was sold. In 1959, it started a new chapter and was turned into a hotel. This means that instead of just one family living there, many different people can now visit and experience the castle's ancient charm.
