Shigenari Izumi (和泉 茂徳, Izumi Shigenari, born 30 June 1969) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was born on June 30, 1969, in Ainan, Ehime, Japan. He played as a defender during his time on the field.
Shigenari Izumi's Football Journey
Shigenari Izumi has had an interesting career in Japanese football. He spent many years playing the sport he loved. Later, he moved into coaching and managing teams.
Playing Days
Shigenari Izumi started his football journey in his youth. He played for Minamiuwa High School. After high school, he joined a club called Mazda SC. This team later became known as Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He played as a defender for them from 1988 to 1993.
Later in his playing career, he moved to Ehime FC. He played for Ehime FC from 1994 to 1996. This was the same club where he would later become a manager.
Becoming a Manager
After his playing career, Shigenari Izumi started coaching. He spent a long time working with the youth teams at Ehime FC. He coached the Ehime FC Youth teams from 1994 to 2004. He also had another period coaching their youth teams in 2008.
In 2021, he took on a bigger role. He became the manager of the main Ehime FC team. This was a short but important period for him. He managed the team from February 1, 2021, to April 4, 2021. During this time, the team played six matches. They had two draws and four losses.
