Playing Football: Shigeo Sawairi's Career
Shigeo Sawairi was born on May 8, 1963. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he joined a football team called Toyota Motors in 1986. This team later became known as Nagoya Grampus Eight.
Sawairi was a very important player for his team. He played in two key positions:
- As an offensive midfielder: This means he helped both defend and attack, often setting up goals.
- As a forward: This means he played closer to the opponent's goal, trying to score.
He was also the team's captain, which shows he was a leader on the field. However, after 1994, he didn't play as much. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 1995 season.
Coaching and Managing Teams
After he stopped playing, Sawairi started a new career as a football coach.
- In 1996, he began coaching at Nagoya Grampus Eight, his old team. He mostly worked as a scout, which means he looked for new talented players.
- From 2000 to 2008, he coached for university and high school teams. This helped him gain more experience.
In May 2008, he joined JEF United Chiba as a coach. He even managed the team for two matches as a caretaker manager. A caretaker manager steps in temporarily when the main manager is not available. However, the team did not do well, and he left the club in September 2009.
From 2010 to 2014, he continued to manage university teams. In November 2014, he joined Kataller Toyama as a general manager. In August 2015, he became the main manager for the team. He managed Kataller Toyama until the end of the 2015 season and then left the club at the end of 2016.
