Sho Gokyu (御給 匠, Gokyū Shō, born June 11, 1983) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward and was known for scoring many goals during his career.

Sho Gokyu's Football Journey

Sho Gokyu was born in Tsu, Japan, on June 11, 1983. After finishing high school, he began his professional football career in 2002.

Starting with Cerezo Osaka

In 2002, Sho Gokyu joined Cerezo Osaka, a team in the J2 League. Even though he didn't play in any matches that year, his team, Cerezo Osaka, was promoted to the J1 League at the end of the 2002 season. He made his debut in September 2003 and played a few games as a forward, but he didn't get a lot of playing time until 2004.

Moving to Thespa Kusatsu

In 2005, Sho Gokyu moved to Thespa Kusatsu, a team that had just been promoted to the J2 League. He played in many matches for them, but he only scored one goal.

Success in the Japan Football League

His career really took off in 2006 when he joined Sagawa Express Osaka (which later became Sagawa Express and then Sagawa Shiga FC) in the Japan Football League (JFL). He became a regular player and scored many goals. In the 2007 season, he was the top scorer in the league, scoring an amazing 30 goals!

Back to J2 League and JFL

In 2008, Sho Gokyu moved back to the J2 League to play for Yokohama FC. However, he didn't play as many matches there. In August 2009, he moved to another JFL club, FC Machida Zelvia, where he played in many games.

In 2010, he rejoined Sagawa Shiga for his second time. He continued to be a regular forward and was again the top scorer in the 2010 season, with 27 goals! However, he played less often from 2011, and the club was unfortunately disbanded at the end of the 2012 season.

Final Years in Football

In 2013, Sho Gokyu moved to SC Sagamihara, another JFL club, where he played many matches as a regular forward. In 2014, he joined FC Osaka in the Japanese Regional Leagues. His team was promoted to the JFL in 2015. Sho Gokyu retired from professional football at the end of the 2015 season.

Throughout his career, Sho Gokyu played in 232 league matches and scored 115 goals, showing his skill as a forward.
