Shusaku Nishikawa (西川 周作, Nishikawa Shūsaku, born 18 June 1986) is a famous Japanese professional football player. He plays as a goalkeeper for the team Urawa Red Diamonds. Goalkeepers are super important because they stop the other team from scoring goals!

Shusaku Nishikawa's Club Journey
Starting with Oita Trinita
Shusaku Nishikawa started his football journey in the youth system of Oita Trinita. This means he trained with their younger teams. In 2005, he moved up to the main team.
He played his very first game in Japan's top league, the J1 League, on July 2, 2005. He played for Oita Trinita against Yokohama F. Marinos. By 2006, he became a regular player for his team.
Moving to Sanfrecce Hiroshima
After Oita Trinita moved down to a lower league, Nishikawa joined another J1 League team. On December 30, 2009, he signed with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He continued to be a strong goalkeeper there.
Playing for Urawa Red Diamonds
In 2014, Nishikawa made another big move. He joined Urawa Red Diamonds after his contract with Sanfrecce Hiroshima ended. He has been a key player for Urawa Red Diamonds ever since.
Shusaku Nishikawa's International Career
Playing for Japan's Youth Teams
Nishikawa also played for Japan's national teams. He was part of the Japan U20 team in 2005. They played in the 2005 World Youth Championship. He played in all four matches for his team.
Later, he joined the Japan U23 team. He played for them in the 2008 Summer Olympics. He played in all three games there.
Playing for Japan's Senior Team
Shusaku Nishikawa made his first appearance for the main Japan team on October 8, 2009. This was during a game against Hong Kong for the 2011 Asian Cup qualification. He has played many games for his country since then.
