Joining with Huron University
In May 2001, the small tribal college grew bigger. It bought Huron University. Huron University was an older, private four-year university. It had been around since 1883. After this, the school was sometimes called Si Tanka/Huron University.
Getting Official Approval
In February 2002, the university received good news. Its accreditation was approved. This meant that the Higher Learning Commission officially recognized the school. Accreditation shows that a school meets high standards for education.
