The Story of Sigebert IV

The made-up story says that in 676, Sigebert's father, King Dagobert II, was killed. After this, Sigebert was supposedly taken to a place called Raze in Aquitaine by his sister. There, he is said to have changed his name to Plantard. At that time, Aquitaine was a region with strong influences from the Visigoths and Basques. The story claims he died in 758 when he was 88 years old. Some versions of this tale even suggest he was an ancestor of a famous knight named Godfrey of Bouillon.

Why Sigebert IV Is Not Real
