Siloam Springs, Gentry County, Missouri facts for kids
Siloam Springs is a small, unincorporated community located in the northeastern part of Gentry County, in the state of Missouri, United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
This community is found along Missouri Route DD. It's about one mile south of the line that separates Gentry County from Worth County. A stream called Big Muddy Creek flows past the southern side of Siloam Springs. The town of Denver is also nearby, about 3.5 miles to the northwest in Worth County.
History of Siloam Springs
The area now known as Siloam Springs has had several different names over time. Some of these names included Areola Springs, Free Water, Gara, Siloam, and Siloam City.
The name "Siloam" might come from an ancient place called Siloam in Jerusalem. This suggests that the early settlers might have named the community after this historic site, perhaps because of a spring or water source in the area.
